Matching Guests Contributions
June 1, 2024 – Asilia Africa has been a pioneering brand for 20 years when it comes to using travel to make a genuine difference to people and ecosystems in East Africa. Every traveller visiting an Asilia property is helping preserve ecosystems, create jobs, and finance vital infrastructure in the rural areas of the country they are visiting.
The Asilia Giving Conservation charge was an industry-first when it was introduced in 2015, and saw each guest contributing a small levy for each night of their stay, allowing us to make a significant positive impact towards our goal of protecting and restoring some of the most vital natural ecosystems in the world improving the opportunities and livelihoods of the people living in and around these amazing wilderness areas.
In 2023/24 the Asilia Giving programme raised more than US$220,000 allowing us to financially support various nonprofit community development and conservation organisations, many of which operate in the areas where Asilia camps and lodges are located.
From 1 June 2024 onwards, to further amplify the impact of these guest contributions, Nawiri Group has pledged to match the US$10 per night contribution, doubling the impact to US$20 for each night somebody stays in an Asilia camp.
As a group, we combine commercial success with multi-million-dollar grant funding commitments to support ecosystems to thrive in harmony with their custodian communities. By matching our guests’ contributions we can significantly increase our positive impact initiatives and our implementing partners’ projects to benefit nature and people alike.
