Expanding our East African Footprint
1 December , 2024 – Today Asilia Africa has opened bookings for Erebero Hills, our first luxury lodge in Uganda, scheduled to welcome guests in June 2026. Positioned on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Erebero Hills along with the extension of our Destination Management Company (DMC) service across Uganda and Rwanda marks a significant expansion of our East African footprint.
Erebero Hills, meaning “a place where you can see far,” will be set within 45 acres of restored indigenous forest bordering the National Park. In collaboration with our local partner, Change a Life Bwindi, we have already planted 25,000 native trees around the site to allow the forest to reclaim the land.
The lodge itself is being built primarily from bamboo, a renewable resource sourced locally to support regional bamboo plantations. Its architecture, conceived in partnership with Pablo Luna Studios, renowned for their sustainable bamboo designs, draws inspiration from the natural contours of the hills and the organic forms of the forest. The design integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, creating an experience that combines comfort with a connection to the surrounding forest.
Our vision for Erebero Hills goes beyond elevating the guest experience for travellers in Uganda to a new standard, befitting the best of Asilia Africa’s offerings in Kenya and Tanzania. Beyond creating an extraordinary guest experience, the lodge allows us to expand our impact agenda and purpose-led business model to support this richly biodiverse ecosystem, benefitting wildlife while creating lasting economic opportunities for communities around Bwindi.
With bookings now open, we look forward to welcoming our first guests in June 2026, using responsible tourism to develop a long lasting positive impact agenda.
