A multi-year research project of the Usangu wetlands in South-Central Tanzania, to determine how the area could be sustainably developed to promote investment for safari tourism, while also assessing needs in terms of infrastructural and conservation upgrades. Research and planning funded by Norfund and Six Rivers and project coordinated and implemented by Asilia, culminating in the Usangu Expedition Camp opening in June 2022. The neighboring Douglas Bell Eco Research Station offers the opportunity for guests to engage with research projects and develop a deeper understanding of the crucial work being performed in the area.

COVID pandemic crisis response that developed into two financial mechanisms, designed to provide grant funding to support core operating costs of the conservancies until tourism revenues could recover, and a vehicle established with support by MMWCA by Conservation International to provide loans in order to sustain landowner lease payments and keep conservancies functioning.

This helped in averting wildlife coming under increased pressure from poaching and human/wildlife conflict, as well as protecting Maasai landowners from unmanageable economic pressure that would put one of the most promising and innovative conservation strategies in Africa at risk. The Wildlife Tourism College of Maasai Mara is an integrated institution in the Pardamat Conservation Area in the Mara that was preceded by the Koiyaki Guiding School: a local college, commercial international edu-tourism experience, and research spring board addressing key challenges posed by the intersection of high youth unemployment, population growth, and poor land use throughout the ecosystem - while drawing broad awareness to these challenges.
